Minnesota worth a bet as they should be much improved with Brett Farve, Percy Harvin, and AP along with one of the best D in the NFL. Their style is playoff football, so just need them to muddle through regular season and get to the playoffs. If they do 6-1 to win NFC will be looking like a shrewd wager. If they can manage to get home field advantage - there will be an opportunity to hedge and maybe cash in big. Let's say they are playing at home for NFC Championship and oddsmakers make them 6.5 point favorite to win game. It is an opportunity to wager on the visiting team plus the 6.5 points. If Minnesota wins by 7 or more you lose the straight wager, but win NFC and get paid 8-1. If Minnesota loses game outright you win your straight wager, but lose NFC bet. If Minnesota wins by 6 or less you cash the straight wager and the NFC bet at 8-1.

OK... Here's a bet for all you fantasy football players out there. There are only a hand full of players that have a chance to win MVP and the number one pick for most people would be Adrian Peterson of Minnesota. He is a deserving favorite since he led the NFL in rushing last year. His odds this year are 7-1 which makes it difficult to bet him at such a low number. Who do you think was 2nd to AP last year ... that's right Michael Turner ... who finished only 61 yards behind. Logic would tell you Michael Turner would have a chance again this year. Michael Turner is 40-1. versus 7-1 for AP. Now I don't care if you usually don't bet, but this is worth taking a flyer, especially for fantasy football players.
